ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with internal partners to build realistic optimization models by translating real-world requirements into model constraints 
  • Bridge the gap between real world business operations and models by designing decision systems that optimize for sequences through time 
  • Implement optimization models by selecting and tuning algorithmic approaches utilizing technical tools like solvers, machine learning, reinforcement learning 
  • Design and conduct experiments (e.g. A/B testing) to validate hypotheses and measure outcomes 
  • Present complex findings in a clear, actionable way through visualizations, dashboards, interactive applications, or technical reports 
  • Partner with engineering platform teams to deploy and maintain production-ready pipelines and services for optimization models & algorithms 
  • Mentor analysts and other self-service data consumers in advanced statistical and machine learning techniques 
  • Stay current on emerging methods, tools, and technologies in data science
  • Other duties as assigned 

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong programming skills; familiarity with Julia, Python, or similar languages preferred 
  • Experience selecting and utilizing open source and commercial solvers 
  • Familiarity with deploying and maintaining models in production 

Preferred Skills: 

    • Proficient in developing Linear Programming (LP) and Mixed-Integer Programming (MIP) models using optimization frameworks such as CPLEX, Gurobi, OR-Tools, PuLP, and Pyomo 
    • Prior experience making or publishing analytical web apps (e.g. Shiny, Streamlit) 
    • Proficiency with machine learning libraries and frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) 
    • Advanced knowledge of statistics, experimental design, and predictive modeling 
    • Skilled in SQL and comfortable working with large datasets 
    • Comfortable with BI tools and integrating data science outputs into business processes

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Applied Math, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field 
    • 3–5+ years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, or a related role 
    • Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end machine learning, optimization, or forecasting solutions

    • Job requires the ability to use vision, adjust focus and work on a standard computer screen. 
    • Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment.
