Job Description
- Forensic Toxicology Laboratory Technician(Laboratory Technician III)
Are you looking to begin a career in the world of forensic science? Do you have great time management and communication skills? The Utah Public Health Laboratory is looking for a motivated individual to fill their role of Forensic Toxicology Laboratory Technician.
Responsibilities:- Immunoassay (ELISA) screening of case samples
- Initial sample preparation and extraction of case samples to be analyzed by a forensic toxicologist as necessary
- GC (gas chromatography) analysis of volatile compounds
- Reagent preparation and glassware cleaning
- Sorting, labeling, and maintaining integrity of specimens as deemed necessary
Minimum Requirements:- Prior laboratory experience, either being from professional experience or secondary education
- Great time management skills
- The ability to work well in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant scientific field (at or near completion) OR 4 years of relevant experience
- Prior experience in a clinical or forensic lab environment
- Familiarity with biological matrices clinical testing techniques
- Experience with forensic chain of custody
- Familiarity with clinical/toxicology lab reports and data
Standard Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with availability in the event of an emergency.
