Are you looking to begin a career in the world of forensic science? Do you have great time management and communication skills? The Utah Public Health Laboratory is looking for a motivated individual to fill their role of Forensic Toxicology Laboratory Technician.
Responsibilities:
Immunoassay (ELISA) screening of case samples
Initial sample preparation and extraction of case samples to be analyzed by a forensic toxicologist as necessary
GC (gas chromatography) analysis of volatile compounds
Reagent preparation and glassware cleaning
Sorting, labeling, and maintaining integrity of specimens as deemed necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Prior laboratory experience, either being from professional experience or secondary education
Great time management skills
The ability to work well in a team environment
Excellent communication skills
Preferred:
A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant scientific field (at or near completion) OR 4 years of relevant experience
Prior experience in a clinical or forensic lab environment
Familiarity with biological matrices clinical testing techniques
Experience with forensic chain of custody
Familiarity with clinical/toxicology lab reports and data
Schedule:
Standard Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with availability in the event of an emergency.
