Medical Technologist

Job Description

Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, the Medical Technologist completes appropriate laboratory testing and must demonstrate the ability to work with neonates, infants, children, adults, and geriatric persons. The position includes participation in performance improvement activities within the department and involvement in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols.
• Participate in performance improvement and CQI activities.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and patients.
• Fulfill on-call requirements and respond to the facility within required timeframes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Currently registered MT or eligible for registration, ASCP or equivalent.
• Prior experience preferred; new hires may be trained into the position.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS certification required within three months of hire date.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Basic computer and clerical knowledge.
• Flexibility for shift rotation within the department.

Schedule

This position is scheduled from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
