US Cannalytics is looking for a candidate who seeks a challenging position in an independent testing laboratory serving the PA medical cannabis markets. The successful candidate will be reliable, exhibit strong attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
MICROBIOLOGIST – MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 21 years of age or older
- At a minimum, completion of a program earning a bachelor’s degree in a natural science, to include but not be limited to, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering or environmental sciences; or hold a current license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- At least 1 year of culture-based microbiology experience.
- At least 1 year of experience with molecular genetic techniques (qPCR).
- Ability to communicate effectively with both scientific and non-scientific staff.
- Strong attention to detail; able and willing to work independently and collaboratively.
MICROBIOLOGIST RESPONSIBILITIES
The Microbiologist is responsible and accountable for the accurate testing of state-mandated and R&D analysis of cannabis samples submitted for testing, including the development and execution of microbiological assays to quantify or identify microbes in medical cannabis products. This position is also responsible for daily laboratory maintenance, compliant documentation, and providing technical expertise to laboratory personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for cannabis sample tracking and destruction and maintaining inventory of supplies..
- Responsible for accurate measurement and documentation of all product weights.
- Prepare samples for assays, analysis, and testing using aseptic technique.
- Perform area and instrument cleaning, maintenance, and calibration including compliant documentation of associated logs.
- Ensure that all SOPs, state regulations and safety requirements are followed when handling potentially infectious material and biohazardous waste.
- Execute microbiological testing according to SOPs and state testing requirements.
- Analyzes data from testing performed and submits to laboratory director or lab director designee.
- Review, document, and approve microbiological testing results and quality controls in laboratory information management system (LIMs)
- Assist in developing methods to quantitate and identify microorganisms in medical cannabis.
- Performs or assists in instrument qualification and validations.
- Perform proficiency testing including value, documentation and submissions.
- Develop methods to maintain cultures of bacteria and other microorganisms for study.
- Provide recommendations about how to improve microbial assay workflow, including turnaround time.
- Works in a timely manner and strives to improve quality and maintain accuracy.
- Keep current knowledge by reviewing the findings of other researchers.
- Answer microbiology-related questions from co-workers and suggest process improvements if requested.
- Follow company SOPs, all rules, regulations, and laws for the transportation of items for medical marijuana testing.
- Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.
