Perform accurate and timely collection, handling, and processing of clinical specimens (e.g., blood, urine, swabs, tissue) in accordance with standard operating procedures. <\/li>
Conduct microbiological cultures, staining techniques (Gram, acid -fast, etc.), and microscopic examination to identify bacterial, fungal, and other microbial agents. <\/li>
Perform antimicrobial sensitivity testing (AST) using manual and automated methods to determine pathogen susceptibility to antibiotics. <\/li>
Interpret laboratory results with clinical relevance and generate clear, accurate, and timely reports for healthcare providers. <\/li>
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment (e.g., incubators, autoclaves, biosafety cabinets, spectrophotometers) to ensure optimal performance and safety. <\/li>
Adhere strictly to infection control protocols, biosafety standards (BSL -2), and hospital -wide safety policies to prevent contamination and exposure. <\/li>
Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities, including internal and external proficiency testing, documentation, and corrective actions. <\/li>
Maintain meticulous records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., NABL, ISO 15189, local health authority guidelines). <\/li>
Collaborate with clinical teams to provide microbiological insights and support infection prevention initiatives. <\/li>
Stay updated with advancements in microbiology, emerging pathogens, and evolving testing methodologies. <\/li><\/ul><\/div>
Requirements:<\/b> <\/div>
Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related field. <\/li>
Strong foundational knowledge of microbiology laboratory techniques, including culture methods, staining, and identification of microorganisms. <\/li>
Hands -on experience in sample collection, processing, and handling of clinical specimens. <\/li>
Proficiency in performing antimicrobial sensitivity testing (AST) using disc diffusion and/or automated systems. <\/li>
Demonstrated understanding of infection control principles and biosafety practices in clinical laboratory settings. <\/li>
Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot standard laboratory equipment with attention to safety and calibration. <\/li>
Strong analytical and problem -solving skills with accuracy in result interpretation and documentation. <\/li>
Knowledge of quality control procedures and compliance with laboratory accreditation standards. <\/li>
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work efficiently in a fast -paced, high -volume environment. <\/li>
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. <\/li>
