Medical Technologist
Job Description
The Medical Technologist has the ability to perform all tests in the clinical laboratory, is familiar with existing techniques and computerized instrumentation, and works with minimum supervision. This role requires the use of independent judgment and a fundamental knowledge of all departments, with the ability to rotate as needed. The candidate must be knowledgeable of quality control theory and capable of utilizing quality control programs accurately. Troubleshooting procedures or instruments systematically is essential, as is the operation of computerized instrumentation along with a sophisticated robotic automation line.
Responsibilities
- Accurately perform laboratory procedures from specimen procurement to result reporting.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and quality control at all times.
- Care for and conduct routine maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
- Assist technicians and lab aides in troubleshooting issues.
- Draw blood specimens from patients per request orders, recording phlebotomy details in the logbook.
- Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- 1+ year of experience in a laboratory setting.
- Experience in General, Chem, Hema, Urinalysis, and Coagulation testing required.
- Eligible for national certification.
Schedule
11:00 PM - 7:30 AM, with a 40-hour guarantee, requiring every other weekend availability.
